SPECULATION was rife last night over a possible takeover bid for Detica www.detica.com , which builds intelligence systems.
Shares in the technology company, which is involved in improving the UK’s border security, closed up 32.5 per cent at 401.5p.

SOFT drinks maker Sangs www.sangs.co.uk  yesterday announced the closure of their Aberdeen distribution depot.
But 22 workers at the depot and six sales staff may be offered other posts by the Banff firm.
Sangs said escalating fuel prices and an increase in the cost of raw materials were major factors in the closure decision.

HOME buyers have been hit with a 66 per cent hike in mortgage fees in the wake of the credit crunch, a study has revealed.
The average application fee for a fixed-rate mortgage was £517 in September 2006.
